And here I was, parodying you in the Spam forum...

...without having read this.

I feel terrible and stupid, but reading this makes me feel moreso.
I thought you had made that topic out of sarcastic spite. Because I found it the next day after making this thread.

And if you did, I don't really mind. I don't take things too seriously.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Memes left and right is annoying, but, I think it's completely ridiculous to wage this war on memes. They are humorous. They are also overused a lot. But you are participating in your own memes by repeatedly posting things as standard responses to things you don't approve of, are you not? You are simply using ones that aren't overused and are self-invented. To me, the only difference here is it seems more 'hipster' to use your own memes and to shun the internet crowd who finds them humorous otherwise.

Everyone seems to be doing this. But might I point out the Straw Man Fallacy. This topic was brought up as discussion, not war.

Well it got shut down anyways, so whatevs.

Also, I might be confusing parody with sarcastic spite. Happens from time to time.

I usually enjoy it when people get creative with existing memes, but my standard response to old unchanged crap is a face-palm. What bugs me most is people who believe themselves to be part of some sort of exclusive in-crowd for obnoxiously regurgitating every single meme they can recall instead of actually making any sort of real intellectual contribution.

I use to love memes...then I took an arrow in the knee..

But yeah.. Memes get tired very quickly. I don't like when they persist for 10 years (like chuck norris)

Exactly, i'm okay with them now and them. I'm guilty of using them from time to time. I think (as most people have said) that it is when they are used everywhere and all the time, such as the rush we had earlier this year of them, which can begin to grate on people the wrong way.
